Hello, I am Hiroshi Masuda. I hold an exhibition at Bio ojiyan cafe in Harajuku, Tokyo. The theme of this exhibition is “Water”.
I started painting when I was travelling through 76 countries in 2017. During this time I painted portraits on the street.
Water travels around the world more than me. The rain that is falling down in Japan today may have come from the Nile River, the Victoria Falls or even the water off the coast of Hawaii.
Not only places, water travels through ages. The water that you washed your face with this morning may have been the water that a Tyrannosaurus stepped in, the rain that had fallen down on Australopithecus or the water Thomas Edison used in his experiment.
I am envious of how water can cross borders and time with such ease. This has been my inspiration for these paintings.
Where does the water in front of you come from?
